The light is back on in Bartholomew Road
One of Birmingham's best known landmarks in Eastside, the former Christopher Wray building on Bartholomew Road, which has been empty and semi-derelict since 2003 is to be given a new lease of life.
Czero is working in partnership with Christopher Wray to bring forward a development of the building, with the intention being either to deliver student accommodation or private residential along with a mix of complementary uses
Efforts were made by developers some years ago to have the Grade II listed building demolished, but now it appears that developers C Zero have come up with a proposal to completely reurbish and restore the landmark building, which is set on 3 upper floors plus basement, to include a number of bars, restaurants and other studios. The restoration is effectively being financed by the "enabling development" of a 15 storey student apartment block at the rear.
